Organizational Structure of FICA
FICA will consist of appropriate separate components which will undertake various tasks ranging from general management to scientific analysis. These may include:
· The Management Board
The management board will establish the Authority’s draft budget and work to monitor the implementation programs while ensuring that FICA co-operates successfully with partner organizations across Africa and beyond. It will also appoint members of the Scientific Committee and panels, and agree on internal rules and regulations.
· The Executive Director
The ED is the legal representative of the Agency who will manage the day-to-day activities of FICA and appoint all staff members of the technical, scientific, administrative, and communications departments. The ED will also be responsible for drawing up the annual programs in consultation with the appropriate authorities.
· The Advisory Forum
This will consist of representatives of each African country or national officials dealing with food related issues. Its main responsibility is to assist the ED with the aim of improving coordination and communication among countries which have a common agenda at the national level.
· The Scientific Committee
The SC assisted by a panel of experts, will give independent science based and technical opinions to help FICA carry out risk assessments in their respective specialized fields.
